Making a Will
Making a will is your last chance to influence something or someone that is very important to you, and yet only around 30% of us actually do it.
The reason is probably that we just don’t like to think about it. Actually, its very easy to do, and won’t cost you very much (maybe £100 using a solicitor), especially if you make a will at the same time as, say, you move house, when you are likely to be offered the service at a discount rate. If you make a will you can choose which people and organisations benefit from your estate, and avoid a lot of hassle for those tidying up your affairs. You can produce a DIY will yourself using forms from stationers, but it is safer in legal terms to use a solicitor.
Your will is very personal to you. It is up to you what statements you want to make in it – you don’t need an “ethical solicitor” to do it for you (in fact, there are very few ethical solicitors listed, and none that specify that they offer will making).
If you want to specify your ethical or green wishes for your funeral then think about preparing a death plan.
