Recycling Cooking Oil
Submitted by Frank on Sat, 15/09/2007 - 19:34.If you use a deep fat fryer or run a commercial kitchen then you may have substantial quantities of cooking oil to dispose of on occasion. It can be added to the compost (mixed with paper or card for absorption) or used as a preserving oil on garden furniture etc. - use sparingly!
Biofuel projects use cooking oil to fuel cars. Check those in your local area to see if they will accept it.
Recycling Cat Litter

The majority of cat litter is made from bentonite clay, although it can also be made from other recycled/recyclable materials such as paper, hemp, wood shavings, wheat bran and orange peel. All these types can be added to the compost heap, although it is best to remove the faeces first to avoid spreading parasites.
