Recycling Cork

Cork cannot yet be collected and recycled in the UK. Schemes exist in other countries, including Portugal, Germany, Belgium, Switzerland and Australia, but quantities are still relatively small.
Recycled wine corks can be used for a variety of ingenious purposes: lighting fires, making noticeboards, protecting knife blades, making floor tiles, fishing rods and insulation.
Buy wine with real corks, as this helps protect the corkforests in Portugal and Spain, which support a wide diversity of wildlife.
