Looking After Your Eyes
If your eyes require some assistance for clear vision, glasses that can be worn for many years are the choice of least impact. If you don’t require them all the time, or don’t have extremely poor vision, consider opting for a nice solid pair of glasses. For those who choose to wear contact lenses, there are a variety of solution choices available. Many contain harsh chemicals and are often tested on animals. Look for brands that are thimerosal-free, chlorhexidine-free, sterilized without radiation and not tested on animals and packaged in recyclable containers.
If you’d like to avoid using any and all eye products, why not consider one of the popular eye surgeries. Be sure to look into your options carefully. LTK (laser themokeratoplasty) is the newest for treating far sightedness. But beware, this one is not permanent, and could regress after just 2 years. Lasik and PRK are also surgical options for correcting your vision, which have been around longer with longer lasting results. None of these make you immune to vision changes that can come with aging, you still may need corrective lenses someday, but you could reduce the need for a lot of eye maintenance products in the mean time.
Remember that when you have finished with your glasses, you can recycle them.
