Low Energy Bulbs - the downside?

There have been reports in the news of CFL bulbs ('low energy' bulbs) causing problems for some people: they can apparently cause migraines due to flickering and their low light intensity. There are also reports of the aggravation of skin conditions caused by the particular wavelengths of light emitted by CFL bulbs, and warnings of increased risks of seizures for people with epilepsy.
If you suffer any adverse reactions after fitting CFL bulbs, or when in an environment lit by these bulbs, consult your doctor.
A number of organisations have emphasised the importance of continuing to make fluorescent ("normal")bulbs available to people who are affected by CFL bulbs.
