Alternative Gifts
What about:
-
gift vouchers
-
something you made yourself
-
membership of a club or society, or a subscription
-
charity gift, on someone’s behalf, such as Save the Children offer
-
something that helps someone in another country, such as Positive Presents or Great Gifts offer
Food Gifts
If you can’t think of anything to give as a gift, what about someone’s favourite food, or something a bit more exotic, but eco-friendly? A bottle of organic wine, olive oil or locally produced beer perhaps.
Or if you are a dab hand in the kitchen bake them a cake, make some buns, or even cook a special meal just for them.
Gifts of Time
Giving your time to somebody can be a great alternative to a present. Helping them with decorating, gardening, shopping, cooking them a meal or running them round time might be just what they really want.
Or take them for a picnic or a country walk, to the theatre, cinema, or concert, or whatever they particularly like.
You can also give your time for the benefit of everyone and the environment by volunteering. You can make this personal by volunteering for a cause that you know is important to a particular person, and letting them know.
